Invisible Labour

Invisible Labour
Tributary Projects, Canberra

5 - 22 October 2017

Invisible Labour focussed on the artist's investigation of material, exploring the unknown as linked to an invisible or intangible source of artistic production.

The exhibition title references the conceptual framework of Lloyd's work, focussing on trial and error, research and material investigation. The title also playfully contradicts the artist's reworked, scratched, textural surfaces, which openly document layers of activity. Concepts such as Macushla Robinson’s examination of an invisible labour force propping up the art world and the political economy of gender were referenced by the artist, and various essays, articles and books on related topics were included on a table of reading material that formed part of the exhibition.
